Ghost Flute & Dice - Melodi Is God LP
ABOUT THE MUSIC
For this album the melodies have played the role as god. The melodies have been the guiding principle that has determined all other musical aspects from instrumentation to form and mood. As with Ghost Flute & Dice´s debutalbum there is an extremely manipulated acoustic piano at the center of everything, but on "melody is god" the soundspace has been further expanded with the addition of violin, saxophone, vocals, soundscapes, drones and a few fieldrecordings as well. Seen as a whole the album has elements of electronica, ambient, freeform, glitch and more. But the melodies themselves vary quite a lot: where one flies like a swallow in and out of reality, another slowly plows its way through a dry and meaningless landscape. And so the numbers vary from melodic chamberplay to reckless experimentalism.
ABOUT HOW AND WHO MADE IT
This album has been underway for such a long time. The first sketchy ideas go back to 2009 – at least – and every melody took months and huge amounts of scorepaper to finish. Then it became important to find the right musicians to record the melodies. Saxophonist DANIELLE DAHL (Tigers Mind), violinist MARIA DIEKMANN (Selvhenter) and singer TRINE ODSGAARD NIELSEN all have a talent for playing in between pitch and tone, which made it possible to keep the the melodies moving in and out of their surrounding soundscapes. And when one of Denmarks best producers of electronic music agreed to mix the album it turned out to be good fortune in several ways. Not only was THOMAS KNAK (Opiate, Opto, Björk) able to make a seemless mix between the acoustic and electronic elements of the album, but he was also extremely patient with so many last minute changes.

The inspiration for this music comes from a lot of places and I dont mind listing them. Just bare in mind that inspiration never works as a 1 to 1. So the music on this record doesn´t necessarily sound similar to these artists.
